FOR YOUR INFORMATION – May 28, 2017
Don’t forget that Thursday mornings are maintenance time at the church. There are all kinds of jobs to suit your taste from gardening to cleaning to fixing. Ed and Jeannine Merinuk oversee these tasks and could use a few more hands. If everyone took one or two turns over the next few months, it would make the work load lighter. Just turn up between 9:30 and noon on Thursday. Incidentally, this is a fair weather opportunity – so if it rains you can stay home.
SPIRITUAL REFLECTION DISCUSSION GROUP
The Spiritual Reflection Discussion Group this meet again this coming Friday, June 2nd in the Church House. Please join us for informal discussions about interesting topics. This is not a Bible Study group. Each session, which is led by various members of the group, focuses on a thought-provoking topic related to our lives. No prior knowledge required. Everyone is welcome.
Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday so be sure to wear something red to celebrate! Let’s have the congregation be a sea of red to symbolize the tongues of fire that rested on each of them who were filled with the Holy Spirit that day.
LAY PARTICIPATION ROSTER
The new LAY PARTICIPATION ROSTER – June 4 – October 1 is now posted in the Church House. The names listed are the people who have indicated they would like to volunteer to participate on Sunday mornings. You will notice that there are two blank spaces in the month for Readers and one blank space for Prayers of the People. If your name is not on the list and you would like to volunteer for either task, please add your name. If you have not been on the list before, please consider adding your name. Neither task is onerous.
If your name is not on the mailing list to receive the Diocesan Post from Victoria and you would like to receive this (almost) monthly newsletter which keeps everyone up to date on what is happening in all parts of the diocese, please contact Pat Gasston. There is no charge.
Have you decided what you will do to help out with the Church Fair on Saturday, July 15th? Remember, this is our major fund raising event for the whole year so we need all hands on deck. Even if you think you don’t have the time (or energy) to take on a large task, there are lots of small jobs that need to be done. Ask Pat Gasston for a suggestion as to how you can help us make this year’s fair the best yet!
RIDE TO CHURCH
If you require a ride to church on Sunday morning or know of someone who does, please contact Pat Gasston who will make arrangements for transportation.
THIS WEEK’S THOUGHT TO PONDER
In my deepest, darkest moments, what really got me through was a prayer. Sometimes my prayer was ‘Help me.’ Sometimes a prayer was ‘Thank you.’ What I’ve discovered is that intimate connection and communication with my creator will always get me through because I know my support, my help, is just a prayer away.
