FOR YOUR INFORMATION – September 10th, 2017
A warm St. Mary Magdalene welcome to The Venerable Reverend Dennis Hayden from Salt Spring Island who graciously agreed to lead us in worship this morning while Blair is on vacation. Please join us for coffee after the service to personally express your thanks to Dennis for his leadership.
BLAIR ON VACATION
Our rector, Blair, is on vacation and will return on September 21st. Next week, September 17th, will be a Morning Prayer Service led by Evan Mitchell with Jim Moore preaching. Should you need pastoral care during Blair’s absence, please contact Pat Gasston, the Rector’s Warden.
SPIRITUAL REFLECTION DISCUSSION GROUP
The Spiritual Reflection Discussion Group this meet again this coming Friday, September 15th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church House. Please join us for informal discussions about interesting topics. This is not a Bible Study group. Each session is led by various members of the group, which is composed of members of the parish as well as members of the community, and focuses on a thought-provoking topic related to our lives. No prior knowledge required. Everyone is welcome.
Please remember the following people in your prayers this week: Wanda Forward, Lee Roberts, Ben Robertson, Laura Thornson, William Steele, Rob Willingham, Justin Travolini, Ollie Smith, and Bev McKenzie.
There are still lots of spaces for you to sign up to help with coffee time. A reminder that the task has been divided into three sections and you are now invited to sign up for a portion of the task only. Mary Crumblehulme has kindly offered to set up the coffee before the service every Sunday, so now we are looking for people to either provide something for the snack table or clean up at the end. Please lend a hand in this important part of our ministry.
RIDE TO CHURCH
If you require a ride to church on Sunday morning or know of someone who does, please contact Pat Gasston who will make arrangements for transportation.
It is evident that the Birthday List is not up to date as there are a number of people whose names have not been included. Please see Evan Mitchell to make sure that your name is on the list. Don’t be shy about asking that your name be included – after all, everyone has a birthday and we would NEVER tell your age!! Remembering those whose birthday falls in a particular month is a fun tradition at St. Mary Magdalene.
FLOWERS FOR THE SANCTUARY
If you would like to donate flowers to be placed in the sanctuary in memory of a loved one, please see Pat Gasston or any other member of the Altar Guild to have your name placed on the calendar for your chosen date.

CHURCH E-MAIL ADDRESS
If you wish to contact the office by e-mail, our new address is email@example.com.
You may have noticed that there are a few pot holes forming near the bottom of the new church driveway. You can help keep new holes from forming by NOT accelerating as you enter the driveway. While it seems natural to accelerate after braking to turn, this creates holes in the new surface. This is a particular problem in dry weather. Let’s all help by GENTLY stepping on the gas and SLOWLY driving up the driveway. Thanks.
LAY PARTICIPATION TODAY:
The following people have provided lay assistance for the service today: Celebrant – The Venerable Reverend Dennis Hayden, Liturgical Assistant – David Bergmark; Prayers of the People – Ron Weeks; Lay Readers – Jan Nicol-Mitchell and John Crocker; Usher – Janet Guy.
PARISH MEETING AND LUNCHEON
There will be a parish meeting and luncheon in the Church House after the service on Sunday, September 24th. A lunch of sandwiches and desserts will be provided by the Parish Council. Mark your calendar. See, there is such a thing as a free lunch!
